Recently I posted on YPKO that Professional Music Technology were hosting a special ‘Meet the Experts’ day at their Birmingham store on Saturday 22nd May to celebrate the newly refitted Yamaha zone – a dedicated space in the new store where you can experience the full line-up of products from Yamaha Music Production. Well I couldn’t resist, so Saturday morning I popped over to enjoy the new section.
The music store is absolutely massive in size with a maze of amps, a forest of guitars and more importantly for us Yamaha enthusiasts a new section devoted entirely to the Yamaha Synthesizers and Stage Pianos. I met quite a few people from Yamaha including Bert Smorenburg, who is the Yamaha’s international Synthesizer specialist. He was kind enough to give me a little overview of the differences between arranger keyboards and synthesizers. Recently there is certainly noticeable crossover as the flagship arranger keyboard Tyros3 features some of the sounds from the Motif range and the Motif itself uses backings similar to what us arranger people would consider calling an accompaniment style.

Whenever the Internet is mentioned in conversations, social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter are probably only a comment or two away. Yamaha themselves have been quick to appear on these websites as millions upon millions of people use these services and with the help of Yamaha Corporation, I have compiled a list so if you do use either Facebook or Twitter, you can follow their news, images, videos, comments and more.
Don’t forget Yamaha Personal Keyboard Owner also has a Facebook group and Twitter page.

On the 19th January, I was invited to enjoy James Sargeant demonstrating two of Yamaha’s latest music instrument offerings courtesy of Roger Hagarty at Roger’s Music. These included the Yamaha Clavinova CVP-509 digital piano and the PSR-S910 keyboard, which was held at Notts County Football Club. While I was there, I was able to provide live comments and capture photos which I added to an online website called Twitter. I have been using Twitter for quite some time as it provides a very convenient way of providing snippets of information covering your interests.
Below are some of my Twitter posts featuring my experiences of the event. Feel free to follow me on Twitter and there is also a Yamaha Personal Keyboard Owner (YPKO) account as well.

I have recently arrived home after spending a couple of days at the Yamaha Club Weekend hosted at the Oxford Belfry Hotel. While I was there, I was able to provide live comments and capture photos which I added to an online website called Twitter. I have been using Twitter for quite some time as it provides a very convenient way of providing snippets of information covering your interests.
