On 25th February 2010, Wessex Organ World Society were delighted to welcome Yamaha UK’s Product Manager James Sargeant to play the Yamaha Tyros3 keyboard at a charity concert at the Hamworthy Social Club, Canford Magna, Poole. The aim was to raise funds and support for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, which receives no support from government or the National Lottery. They rely solely upon voluntary donations.

Raffle prizes were donated by the Committee and with the sale of tickets Wessex Organ World Society raised the sum of £720.00. A cheque was presented to the Charity’s representative, Annette Plaistow-Trapaud and her volunteers who were delighted with the evening’s performance. A further amazing sum of £155.70 was collected on the doors making the total sum to £875.70.

On the 19th January, I was invited to enjoy James Sargeant demonstrating two of Yamaha’s latest music instrument offerings courtesy of Roger Hagarty at Roger’s Music. These included the Yamaha Clavinova CVP-509 digital piano and the PSR-S910 keyboard, which was held at Notts County Football Club. While I was there, I was able to provide live comments and capture photos which I added to an online website called Twitter. I have been using Twitter for quite some time as it provides a very convenient way of providing snippets of information covering your interests.

Today Yamaha Personal Keyboard Owner celebrates its 5th anniversary. With over 20.5 million hits, 215,000 forum posts and nearly 10,000 authenticated registered members since December 21st 2004 when it launched. My independent Yamaha keyboard and digital piano enthusiast website has grown from a small hobby site into a feature rich resource recognised by visitors from all over the world.

Owned and operated solely by James Woodcock, YPKO as it is now affectionately known by many of the members continues to grow and will hopefully exist for many more years to come…

Ken Abbott and Pamela White have been kind enough to share with me photographs of their treasured moments from the Yamaha Club Weekend 2009, this year hosted for the very first time at the Oxford Belfry Hotel. While I was at the event on the first two days, I also captured images and used the Twitter service to post them live, which you can view from my recent news post.
