Music Finder Non-Cryptic Song Titles
Add commentWritten and/or posted by James WoodcockView comments
Music Finder which is included with many Yamaha keyboards and Digital Pianos provides a very quick way of setting up your instrument with a style, voice and tempo that will suit a particular song. However a lot of instruments include obscure variations or reduced lists of official song titles due to copyright concerns.
Below is a list of replacement Music Finder downloads you can use to update your Yamaha instrument with the real names instead of the cryptic alternatives. which often include extra titles.
Instructions
- Download the appropriate Music Finder file for your instrument model.
- Copy the file onto Floppy Disk (or Smart Media card/USB External Storage Device) and insert it into your instrument.
- Select [FUNCTION] – [UTILITY] – [SYSTEM RESET] – [MUSIC FINDER FILES]
- Go to the USB or FD (floppy disk) page – and select the Music Finder file from the display.
- Select [REPLACE] This will replace the original Music Finder list with non-cryptic titles.
You’ll find the original Music Finder file on the [PRESET] page – in case you need to replace it.

Is the ‘Music Finder non cryptic song titles’
software still available for PSR9000 Keyboard?
If so please advise where it may be obtained.

As far as I know, this is still available from Yamaha Club – Code YC-101
You will have to have a look on the website when the shop is open again: http://www.yamaha-club.co.uk
I have a Tyros 2 and have tried to download the change to understandable titles for the Music Finder. My computer is modern, fast and very good in all other applications. I have tried several times to do this without success.

Thanks for this post. You saved me a lot of trouble trying to determine the real song. It worked like a charm and I’m enjoying my PSR S900 a lot more. Kudos!

I have added a lot of new songs to the Music Finder list on my Tyros (1). Will this download overwrite the whole list and lose my favourites?
James

You would be best posting this on the forum Kieron…
I successfully downloaded the Music Finder File on my Tyros 3. I’ve only had this keyboard 5 days and my question is how do I get the original Music Finder songs back please?
(http://www.jameswoodcock.co.uk) March 9th, 2009 at 10:10 pm
You will find the original Music Finder in the Preset folder.
Select [FUNCTION] – [UTILITY] – [SYSTEM RESET] – [MUSIC FINDER FILES] and go over to Preset tab and you will find the original there.
Have downloaded the file for the Tyros 3, but it does not show up when connected to the Tyros. Folders are visible, but no Tyros3.mfd- file.

Make sure you press the [FUNCTION] button, then – [UTILITY] – [SYSTEM RESET] – [MUSIC FINDER FILES]. If you look for the file any other way, it won’t show.
James I have the Tyros 2 and have just purchased the Clavinova CVP405. There are a lot of Classical songs for want of a better word on the CVP 405. How can I transfer all the ones from the Tyros Two Music Finder onto the Clavinova. There are about 500 more on the Tyros.
I have a new PSRS 700 and have downloaded the non-encryted file, but even with winzip it starts downloading but won’t finish. Is there any other way to get this file?
Thanks,Bill

You don’t need Winzip as the file isn’t compressed. I will however email the file directly to you.
When using a USB stick to change to a non-encryted file, there can not be any other files on the stick or you will get an error on the PSRS 700 screen.
Thanks again, James

Windows will not understand the file. You open it in your keyboard/digital piano as described in the instructions on this page.

Please follow the instructions on this page. Windows will not open the file, it is meant for the keyboard/digital piano only.

Make sure you are following the instructions precisely. For example, if you open any other section such as the styles and not the Music Finder file locator, the disk will appear blank as it will only display styles.
we have a prs540 can you still get floppy disk with music on ann
