Yamaha Tyros3 Expansion Packs/Voice Tip – Copying to Hard Drive from USB Stick

tyros3usbportThere have been a few queries on the forum regarding how to copy the new Tyros3 Expansion Packs to the keyboards internal hard drive. This is achieved easily when you use your computer linked directly to the keyboard, however not everyone has their computer located near their musical instrument, so here is an alternative method if this is indeed an issue:

  • Insert your USB stick with the Expansion Packs/Voices stored into the keyboard’s ‘USB to Device’ port.
  • Press the ‘Voice Creator’ button and select ‘Individual Load’ (LCD button D).
  • Copy the folders containing the Custom Voices from the USB stick to a folder on your hard drive.
  • Press ‘Exit’ on the LCD screen and select ‘Library Load’.
  • Copy the folders containing the Custom Voices from the USB stick to the same folder on your hard drive. When it asks to overwrite, make sure you select ‘Yes’.
  • Press ‘Direct Access’ and then ‘Exit’ to return to the Home screen.
  • Enter the styles selection screen by pressing the LCD button D button and copy all the styles from the USB stick to the same folder on your hard drive’
  • Press ‘Direct Access’ and ‘Exit’ to return to the Home screen. Copy the Multipads, Registrations and Songs the same way by pressing the relevant LCD button (E for Multipads, J for Registrations and A for Songs) to the same folder on your hard drive.
  • Once copying is completed, remove the USB stick from the keyboard.
  • Press the ‘Voice Creator’ button, select ‘Library Load’ and load in the packs from the Hard Drive.

You should now have all the data from the USB stick on the Hard Drive. Thanks to Yamaha for the information.

Please note that this method does not circumvent any copy-write protections!

    Thanks James.

And the last bullet should include….. “and the packs will load into the Premium page in the Expansion area and not interfer with any previously loaded UVN`s.

    James,

Thanks for alerting everyone about this way of loading the files. I agree that this is probably easier for most people than connecting to their computer. We’ll add directions on Yamaha MusicSoft to cover this as well.

I loaded the 3 Premium Packs onto the HDD using a USB cable but I need to wait for the Expansion files to load up every time I switch my Tyros 3 on. Does Dougs method prevent this re-loading process?

No the re-loading process is normal.
